On the fourth weekend in July, La Pobla celebrates its town festival, with activities for all ages. The festival begins on Thursday with the great treasure hunt of the local colles (clubs), kicking off the competition between the town clubs, known as Fem Colla, which runs throughout the weekend. The festival has several activities in which colles can score points for the Fem Colla and others that are specific to the competition, such as the paella competition on Sunday. 46th Noguera Pallaresa Raiers Festival
Since 1979, every first weekend in July, the Diada dels Raiers (Log Rafters Festival) has been held to commemorate the ancient skill of the log rafters, who transported wood from the Pyrenean forests to the plains by raft on the rivers. The log rafter craft died out at the beginning of the 20th century, with the construction of dams that blocked their way and with the arrival of lorries, which offered faster and easier transport. On the afternoon of 17th June, at around 5 pm, the “fallaires” (torch bearers) will climb mount Santa Magdalena, carrying “falles” (torches) made in the days before the festival. The “falla” of La Pobla de Segur is the longest, because in this case, the “falles” are brought down slowly, not running.
