25th MARIA MERCÈ MARÇAL PRIZE FOR POETRY

Every year, the Consell Comarcal (Local District Council) of El Pla d’Urgell organizes the M. Mercè Marçal Prize for Poetry, dedicated to this great poetess from Ivars d’Urgell, a municipality in our comarca (local district). This prize is now well-consolidated and is already a benchmark within the world of Catalan-speaking poetry. The awarding of the M. The streets fill with craftsmen, who demonstrate very old trades: basket-making, weaving, iron-working, glass-blowing, clog-making, barrel-making, mattress-making, pottery, sandal-making, etc. Demonstrations of how to make cigars and “orelletes” (a papadum-like product).
