“Lleida Canta” is a unique gathering of choirs from Ponent (Western Catalonia) and other parts of Catalonia. It is a gathering that is organised at different venues within the territory every year and under a different motto. In 2024, it marks the joint commemoration of the 900th anniversary of the consecration of the churches of Sant Climent and Santa Maria of Taüll with a unique concert. “Festa de la Catxipanda” of Alpicat
This is a meeting of “colles” (groups of friends) who gather to commemorate the National Day of Catalonia and to have lunch at the Parc del Graó, where they make the traditional dish of “Catxipanda” (a casserole made with pepper, aubergine, onion, tomato, snails and various types of meat – which usually include: rabbit, chicken, sausage, quail, and pork chops). The ingredients may vary depending on the chefs. This is a casserole that was traditionally cooked out in the country, using whatever ingredients were available. This year sees the 40th edition of this event.
